I have to say that once running (too much starting effort required for all but large people), the JPX's are my favourite engines that we sold.

Mine average out to about 4200 rpm with Culver 34x20's.

Hi Dale,
I just want to welcome you, as so many of us respect the "Lazair" design.
I met you at the 1983 Oshkosh air show, just briefly, and watched you fly a Lazair. I met your dad and had a nice chat with him.
I still have my original Lazair (1981 series 2) with almost all the updates.
I will be getting it back into the air, in the near future.
I just want to thank you for such a great product that Ultraflight put out, along with good support when you were in business at the time. :D

Thanks for the kind words.

I have many good memories of my early Lazair days.

Glad to hear you'll be keeping yours flying.

Wish there was a way to find out how many of the 200 or so members of this forum actually have Lazairs and how many are flying.

Tyler, did you get my info for A-961 to be added to list. I sent it a while ago. How often do you update list. Why not start a thread here to find number of lazairs flying here? Thanks Art

Shorty likes facts and you can bet dale not gonna steer you the wrong way.

Still a few lazairs around the London area flying still ser 1,2 ,3's and one 2 seater. i think a few clone s (snoopybird ) still around too.

also i really doubt there is 200 members here. Maybe admin guy can verify.
I tihnk that last time i looked there was 100 or so on lazair yahoo and about 250 or 300 on the ficticious lazairflyers. Run by the moderator scott perkins whoonly allows what he wants you to read to be posted.

Dave Loveman started that site and well......... you prolly know enough about that guy.

ok art just for you i did a quick update and you're now the highest "A-numbered" lazair owner.

Dale, any idea how high the kit numbers went? so far art has the trophy at 961

It has biprops and plastic spinner. I have thought about p-tips but I'm doing the cdi's now and plan on a complete recover soon (winter) so money may be an issue. How much are they?

Art the original spinner attachment/backing plates are known to be defective (check for cracks spreading from area that contacts the prop hub).

Call Lonnie and ask for current quotes. You can get the props (34x10) in Wood or Wood core/Carbon Fiber outer laminate. 15-20% better thrust.

JPXman,

Your site is great, not sure what highest A# was. I hope to someday get my hands back on the records and will let you know.

I think it would be great if you could have a Lat/Lon field for each Lazair and a phone number field. Maybe even a page that uses Google Earth to plot a marker at each Lazair. I travel a fair bit and wouldn't mind stopping in on some Lazair owners when I travel, just need an easy way to see where they are and contact them.
