OK, I claim to have been reading the forum for months, so I guess I should know but I have to ask. What are the differences between the Lazair III and the Elite? Art

off the top of my head:

- some wing modifications (root rib stiffener, rib to sparweb brackets)
- bigger engines (KFM or JPX)
- stronger nacelle's for the engines
- long bolt mod

really not that much, just basically all the mods that ultraflight designed over the years incorporated into one aircraft

Ooops I replied to this is the wrong section. Here it is again here.

Don't get a fully enclosed Lazair Series III confused with the "Elite". Some people have mistakenly called a fully enclosed factory poded plane an "Elite" before simply because of the enclosure. The full enclosure could be installed on a stock Series 3 or the upgraded version of the Series 3 which was called the "Elite".

Art,

Another difference is that the Series 3 meets FAR Part 103 in the States and is a "legal" Ultralight, whereas the Elite is too heavy and fast to legally be considered Ultralight. In the real world, the Elite is still much more an Ultralight than 95% of what is currently considered an UL in the states.
