Maybe those of you with amphibians could trail it to Hammonsport, NY for the seaplane "Fly In 2006", that sounds like really exciting reunion or union, whatever. Maybe Dale will let you pitch a tent in his back yard. And there is an airstrip just down the road for the land lovers with just wheels. Does this idea have any possibilites? Dale could announce the formation of a new generation of Lazair. ( I'm dreaming and I'm sure he is too.) Dale are you retired or are in some boring 9-5 job?

There are almost no power boats on the lake in September and the water temperature is still warm. There are numerous wineries along the lake. The Keuka Maid is a tour boat or a party boat, the "the Fly In Committee" has events scheduled during the fly in.
The Curtiss Museum Restoration group is building what has to be one of the first real UL called the "Hudson Flyer" http://angelica14709.com/v-web/gallery/album120/DSC05408 it should be well along by Sept. 2006. It could be fun for all.

Talked to Dale today at the Curtiss Museum and he seemed amenable to the idea of the fly in, however I didn't ask about his back yard although he had read this post. There was a disscussion about the grass air strip down the road and it is believed that the owner will go along with the fly in (or trail in). He does not think there are any float planes out there that would be able to attend, true or false? He and Art Wilder talked about CG and CL of the America the wood seaplane being built at the Museum noteing the amount of lift surface in the tail. Art found evidence in old writings that the America would fly well on one engine.

Dale squelched the idea because he is working on changes to the plane, maybe for the new production model. He also said then he would have to clean it up for display. We lifted the middle top wing section of America into its approximate position today it can be viewed at album120 Museum Shop 1st address above. The drawings are by an attorney probably the patent attorney and very inadequate, so there is a lot of guess work on what was in 1914. Dale is still flying the Elite as late as 11/03/05 and it is a wet ride, hope he is using a wet suit.
