Dale can you email me directly please I have an idea for a new plane and would like to know what you think of the design, I think it can be made in the UL class but its a definite easy build for the experimental category.

This is the very type of request that would make me stay clear of a forum if I were a known aircraft designer.
Someone said on here "will go easy on you Dale" Making a request like the above is going in an abrupt 180' from going easy.
Now TommyB you should think first before you make such request. Number one would how predictable and rhetorical and bloody vague is that question.
To make a true analysis of someone else's design. You would have to make sure that they have active interest for solicitation of such a project and you would have to supply comprehensive drawings and math. Then it would require that person that you have solicited "advise" from to invest an enormous amount of time to pour over your information to make a serious opinion of the design OR marketing of that design.

Another thing is everyone and every design is different Just because you may get bad opinions of your design doesn't mean that it won't work, Well that is if you aint no wacko that hasn't done his homework or your serious about making turning your family car into a jetson mobile.

Just think of what many people thought of a Lazair when they first saw one, I bet you there was more than a few eyebrows raised in doubt.

If you want some real information about "your design" make a mock up, test it as a model, post photo's of it in forums. There are a thousand concepts that come and go and you have define your goals, Is it going to be plans or kit or is it going to be a one off.
The only real way of doing it is build it, fly it and take it too airshows. even then you better put far more effort into production and financial planning than you did in designing or you'll be wasting time effort and money.

Sorry Tommyb,

Not really ignoring you. I'm just too busy doing my own thing to take the time to investigate and make intelligent comments on new ideas right now.

Just look how long it took for me to reply to a few things here.

Brouser also has a few good points, putting a airplane into production is a big deal. I often wonder how I did it back then, youth and ignorance I guess.

Anyway, I'm not really hiding from anyone. In fact, here is my e-mail address: kci at vaxxine dot com (you could have got it by a little Googling anyway). I would like to keep providing what knowledge I have to help people in this forum, so if at all possible lets keep that kind of communication here. If I fail to answer in a timely manner just send me a reminder email that something needs my attention here.

Hi Dale,

It's great to hear from you.

Your reply above speaks volumes of just what kind of person you are. I for one am delighted that you partcipate in this form. I am sure there are not many other AC designer manufactueres who do.

We are all very fortunate to have Lazairs and this form to help anyone who also enjoys them.

Let's all try to keep it light and not ask too much of your time.

Thanks and hope all is well with you.

Happy Landings.
