Personally Ive never seen a 185 seizure. This is probably due to the fact the the engine is under ported and carburated. If one looks at most other types of 2 strokes for aircraft purposes. you will see large intake ports and big carbs. even look at the Solo engine. These engines are designed for high performance outputs. The only hazard Iv'e seen so far that the 185 suffering from lean condition is cylinder head cracking. Still an egt makes good sense on all 2 strokes in the air.

So you have never set you carbs thinking it was tuned perfectly, then go for take-off only to have an engine quit? It has happened to me and a few other people I know. After landing, the engine is cool enough to start up again, but one has to increase the mixture to prevent the same thing from happening. We are at 2500 ft above sea level and don't have as much power as the guys that fly close to sea level. So we are always trying to squeeze as much power as we can...
