Yes experience counts. I can only imagine what the original lazairheads had to go through as they discovered problems with their birds and came up with novel solutions, some the factory adopted as a standard repairs (i'm sure the Whitakers had many). That is not to say that lazairheads today won't find novel solutions that would have satisfied Ultraflight - just that Ultraflight isn't around to properly accept them. The key is to recognize when something you've done isn't working and you start figuring out version 2. :)

Keep beavering - I need to see flying pics over the arizona desert. I imagine it looks a lot like it does up here, just instead of snow (which we still have 4" of) its sand.

I have been looking for some 2024 T3 for my
cap strips...
a few shops close to here (100 to 200 miles) seem to
be out of commission (one was recommenced by the
Bush Plane Museum in Sault Saint Marie - awesome place).

An aeronautical eng. who went out with me to check on
some other stuff said I could use O grade industrial
in that application - I guess that may assume the tapes
still have some stick and the cap strips are not the only
thing holding.

The rotax 185`s arrived in a very beat up cardboard box.But probably are no worse for the wear.
