In the Lazairforce Spinner segment it was suggested that the original backing plates could be re-used with new aluminum spinners. Continued usage of the original spinner backing plates would be very I'll advised. Original spinner backing plates have developed cracks radiating from the prop hub area on engines with as little as 50hrs usage. All original backing plates should be removed and replaced when installing new aluminum or plastic spinners.

I'll second this. Take a look at this original spinner plate. Look for cracks in the prop hub area and where the mounting screws go through the flange portion.
