Hi Shannon, it is a nice plane. I'm curious to know what modifications you have made that necessitates the trim tabs on the ruddervators.

Russell if you add a nosepod on the planes (mainly Series III's) it usually results in the need for tabs. The bit of weight forward along with the force of the wind acting upon the sloped windscreen will result in the need to hold slight back stick. Adding tabs will reduce or negate the need to be holding back pressure. As an example many factory EC poded Lazairs had tabs installed to correct trim.

Well I suppose if you never needed them then it would indeed be strange to see planes equipped with them. Look at all the various pics and you see quite a few Lazairs (mostly Series III's, Elites, EC's) with tabs.

Yeah, I've noticed a few from time to time even one on an aileron, which I figured that perhaps the wing washout wasn't the same. I'm still stuck in 1979 Lazair era.

On the flip side if you have a situation like this (chute mounted on boom aft) then you may need tabs pushing the nose in the other direction. I've only seen aileron tabs once and that particular plane was not assembled correctly.

Bit of a devil to put the last spring on when assembling the manifold but doable. Tension on the assembly is good but not too stiff. also try dennis kirk you can buy all of the exhaust parts there although i am not sure about the muffler.
