I was reading the earlier post on no spark and the comments and help given.

Just for info, I was testing one of my 185's last night. i had de carboned and re-ringed it.

With the spark plug out, lead connected and sittin on the head, it gave a very healthy spark when pulled vigorously...it also ran, but did spark when tested.

Yeah, they will spark when you pull them over. Never pull one over unless you have a plug in the cap and touching the head. To do so could damage your electrical system as it will be unable to discharge.

Did you hone and crosshatch the cylinder when you changed the rings ? Were new gaskets used on the cylinder base/head. Was the correct torque sequence/limit followed !

I had them honed (you could still see the old cross hatch though) and used new head gaskets as they have a 'crush' portion that creates a seal with the head. I used the old base gaskets. They were in quite good condition.

Sounds like you did a good job. Pretty easy huh !
