I had the tape I was using come off the aluminum leading edge of the wing, near the carb, in flight due, I think, to raw fuel and oil getting under the tape.

I was using the 2" wide Green house repair tape.

Anyone know of a tape that is fuel proof? or will I have to seal the edges with some kind of sealer to prevent this problem.

I will also put K&N filters on my carbs to prevent raw fuel from splashing out onto the wing, but I think a little engine oil will still get to the tapes near the engine.

Any suggestions?

Evidently the Poly-patch greenhouse does not have a proper adhesive. More than likely it has a silicon based adhesive. Tedlar tape on the other hand with the proper adhesive (acrylic) is for the most-part fuel and oil proof. Anyone who has tried scores of volatile chemicals to remove Tedlar tape reside when recovering can attest to this.

Ray, I not sure about hte K & N filters.
Try and find some velocity stacks, that will keep in a lot of the gas/oil mis. in the carb. But seriously contact George Curtis for the proper tapes. It not gonna be cheap but hey it works.

I also manufacture original velocity stacks too. I had to as my kit didn't come with any and I knew I absolutely wanted and needed them to keep the fuel from blowing across the wings. Without them there is a vaccuum created as the air passes over the intake when the throttle is brought back that sucks some fuel out and ultimately across the wings.

Ray, if you need a set, let me know and I'll make you up a set for $25 plus shipping.

I read that the velocity stacks actually create a lot of turbulence as the wind blows across the opening and actually creates a suction force, drawing the charge out of the carb.

They look great, but I'll try the K&N filters first because I also need a filter for my sometimes dusty desert flying site.

How long are the stacks?
I might be able to fit them inside the filters.

Do you also have the tedlar 2" leading edge tape.
I only need 1 roll to replace on the areas I fixed.
How much is a roll?

Ray,

I don't have the stacks in front of me, but hey are about 3 1/2" - 4" long. They are a match to the originals.

I have (will have when the run is finished at the end of the month) 20 rolls. 17 are spoken for. So I have 3 rolls left. They are $85 each plus shipping.

If you are interested email me at: gcurtis@excelgraphics.com

Also, the vacuum will NOT draw fuel out of the stacks, but it will without them.
