Art,

Here is the one I've used for 26 years. Made it out of junk that was sitting around. Wheels let it move, spring scale lets you compare static thrust of engines, tuning and mods. I use two lines - the spring scale line, and a backup safety line that's a little longer in case the first line/scale fails. The second (back up) line also pulls the kill switch to shut down the engine if it gets pulled tight.

OK, these are numbers for PIONEERS with my own homemade pine props and 2.75:1 redrives:

Absolute Max static thrust, straight 4" pipes = 65 pounds each

Using homemade exhaust (twin Briggs and Stratton 8 hp mufflers on a splitter manifold, pointed up) = 55 pounds each (Detuned, running nice and rich, closer to 50 pounds each.)

I forget what my 185's with bi-blades run.
