Anyone tried 6061 before ?
Not a reco but had this conversation with a homebuilder the other day and I thought it would be an interesting topic.

Yes all Tubing in 6061.

D cell is 2024 T3
Question was anyone use 6061 before? it is about 20% less strength per thinckness. SO one would have to us say .024 6061 vs .020 2024 T3

What is your thoughts?

Shannon, Exactly !! And thank you. 2024 is a stronger that 6061 and the "t3" is the temper. If is Shinyer as well and i believe more corrosion resistant. I know some look at the 6061 as a cheaper alternative to 2024 but don't do it in D Cell Construction.

In a time tested and proven design why change it ?
