Good question and one that I think of a lot -- that's why I am posting to this thread so that may be Dale or Chappy will offer an update on the electric lazair

Darkhorse, I had looked at that website with the outboard motor also and that appears to be a great motor for Lazair use except for the necessary batteries that seem to be required. Looks like a tremendous amout of weight addition with all the batteries.
I also went to the site that you put up in your post and I'll have to admit, I don't know enough about electric motors (or anything else for that matter) to make sense of all that info. I did know, however, about the 1hp=746 watt thing and was merely tossing that into the thread as my two cents worth also, with no intention of appearing to be knowledgeable in the realm of electric motors. I feel that anybody's two cents is invaluable, so never hesitate to offer yours.

Just hold on -- I have a lot of research and had it all ready to post this afternoon when the power dropped out on me and wiped out all my writing.

Sometime later tonight I`ll get it all back together and posted its interesting and doable.
