I don't know too much about them but I do have one (new, still in the box) from a Birdman TL1A kit from 1976. The literature there says that it puts out 18HP with the MONSTER carb on it (carb is about 1/2 the size of the rest of the engine). It also came with a propeller and adapter (this was from before the days of reduction drives).
About the only places that I have found info on them is on the "vintage go-karts" websites but there is lots there. By the way, mine is a Mc101-mc (has compression release).
