That was my Snoopy at Big Bay last year, and indeed they are Chrysler

Power Bee's. The engines are still made by U.S. Motor Power and parts are available.

They put out 8hp at 5500 rpm or so...mine turn up around 4900 for take off and back to

4500 or so for snooping around....Halls shows 43 or so at that rpm, and the gps

confirms it.....I flew it up to Dale's last year, and intend to fly up again next week....

it takes about an hour and twenty min. from my strip due south....be pleased to talk to

Hi All,
I finally had a trouble free flight with my 210cc Solo engines. I have installed HR181 Tillotson pumper style carbs and that seemed to bring my engines back to life. I had to make a velocity stack as well so that the engines would run at mid throttle as well (my test flight with out the velocity stacks caused an engine out). I made the stacks 3" long and that seemed to work well (advice from a fellow Lazair pilot, thanks). So with the combination of a 10 oz buffer tank behind the engine to get rid of any bubbles in the fuel and new carbs, my EGT is now around 1350 degrees F. full throttle. This temp was not attainable with the previous carbs. So now maybe I can get some serious flying in. :-) Daffy

Have you checked the spark plugs to see how hot the engine is running? On most engines you don't want the egts over 1250 or you are getting close to meltdown. I can't help you with specifics, it just caught my attention.

Hi barrystrs,
Yes, the color is light chocolate on the spark plugs. My EGT probes are closer to the cylinder than they should be, and that may be giving me a slightly higher reading. They are around 3-4 inches from the cylinder when they should be about 6" away. It's the way the muffler is shaped and I decided to mount the probe at a convenient location and into the flame. But maybe to be extra safe, I should richen the mixture just a little more. By the way, 1350 deg is my absolute max that I will go on the EGT guage when flying, and that's at full power. By backing the throttle to cruise, the temperatures drop. I will pay attention to what you said. Thanks Daffy :ph34r:
