i am a bit of a geek, so i am loading up on cheap, lightweight electronics that weren't available in the 80s. i love the tiny tach's, and am going to be playing with a fuel flow meter as well.

i replaced my fuel tank in the 2-seater with a UV protected black tank (so i can't see fuel level, bummer) so i am hoping this will not crack like my nalgene did. i think the below zero temps up here are hard on the nalgene tanks.

i put in a capacitive fuel probe though i am not sold on it yet until it works well for a while - i think the mechanical type probe would have been just as good. so up front i'll have:
1 dual EGT gauge (one probe per JPX engine)
1 fuel gauge
1 (maybe 2) fuel flow gauges
2 tiny tachs
ASI, ALT, Variometer (ball 502 model, electric powered super light)
kill switches
starter switches
master switch
radio
possibly intercom

we'll see how it all fits together, and whether i get off the ground will all this crap riveted in :)

With instrumentation and Lazairs, I definitely subscribe to the minimalist point of view. If I had a single place I would keep it as simple as I possibly could. You would never know it by what I'm putting on my Lazair 2.

Dual 3 1/8" tachs
Dual EGT/CHT
Voltmeter
Hall Airspeed Indicator
Intercom (powered by engines)
Handheld Radio
Strobe Light Switch
ELT
Keyed Switch
Push Button Starters
Dual Kill Switches
Avionics Master Switch
Panic Button (located on front of intercom)
Battery, CBs, and terminal board.

It's a good thing that I've got KFMs on this thing or it might not get off of the ground. Which by the way isn't that far off into the future!

In this shot of the "lower console" you can see the panic button.
