I was just told that the spar attach points are very strong, obviously, but...

"Has anyone had the wing drop down and back with one spar bolt out...

I was replacing the front spar bolt and the wing support fell allowing the wing to drop and pivot back, since the strut was still attached - otherwise it would have just dropped down.

Neither the tab from the wing root or the two tabs from rear fuse attach point appear bent, but at first it appeared to be a sever drop and aft swing.

Tomorrow when I have help I we will inspect for buckles or cracks. One pilot has told me he has had the same scenario happen and he was able to fly the plane after.

The procedure was a mistake in judgment.

An examination of the rear spar attach point shows no buckling or cracking; my old friend Frank concurred and he gave me a hand to re: attach the front point with the new bolt - my original intent.

As I fell asleep last night the thought came to me that the rear attach point would have hinged downward in the sandwich joint, allowing the downward droop. The rear spar tabs flexed but did not bend and the strut added some lateral restriction.

Needless to say next time the support system will be different or at the very least I will remove a strut bolt to control where the wing goes.
