Plane in trailer AND it was due to roll over to South River's 75th anniversary fly in...

After taking the wings off I discovered (sad to say for the first time) that the front spar attach bracket is moving - the rivets on either side of the center bolt are loose.

It appears that someone possibly replaced or used stainless steel pull rivets (3 on either side of bolt).

The solid rivets underneath that hold the front support tube are fine.

The circle of rivets on the boom appear fine.

But this is an unacceptable situation in my mind. A lazair/homebuilt pilot suggests that stailess rivets tend tp distort aluminum and may have oval ed the holes...whatever, I am grounded and may not make the fly-in.

Possibly I can drill out the 6 pull rivets and go oversize until the unit is repaired with 3 bolt upgrade.

really it is good news on the ground.

Now I wish this mornings flight was longer.

This is in no way connected to previous issue with rear attach point, it was not attached when that occurred

Take a pic and let's see it. You're wise to ground yourself. I would!! Now get busy and fix it. It shouldn't take you a few hours to repair. You can still make the fly-in!!!
