I'd have to agree that things could have been spruced up a bit. I often think guys aren't aware of some options they have for their planes. The wires for example could be cleaned up with some expandable sleeving. A nicer looking Mike Mckusick "Skysports" instrument pod shell is fairly cheap. Provided you make your own custom faceplate you can set up your instruments to your specs. Pre-Fab pre-cut faceplates are also available. There are good reasons for swapping out the original wheel and brake set-up on the planes. Guys should be aware however that bending of the factory Series III axle will happen with a few moderately hard landings on an extended axle. I'm partial to the orginal factory wheel, wheelpant, and brake set-up. I understand however that the brakes can be problematic and original plastic wheels are scarce. No real resolution on this one so guys have to go with what works for them. Things I do like on this plane are the props and spinners. Hopefully the guy has new backing plates. Hard to tell from this picture but the covering looks like either painted Tedlar or lightly coated fabric. A fabric covering job that has been lightly coated WITHOUT "silver" UV barrier will have this "translucent" appearance. Painted Tedlar also has this look. I suppose this could be boat wrap too.
Overall not a bad Lazair and glad to see that someone made it to the show. It's probably been a long time since a real Ultralight was there...Haa Haa !
