I just got off the phone with a Dow sales rep after a short
conversation concerning the procurement of Tedlar PVF film. I
represented myself as a grower in need of a sufficient amount of
Tedlar for my greenhouses. The advise I was given concerning
the type of Tedlar was excellent! They certainly know their
product. One of the recommendations was TUT20BG3 for its
strength, durability, UV resistance, longivity, etc. So far so good...
but what I was told in the very next sentence shocked me. A
minimum purchase was one full roll of film at a cost exceeding
$80,000 US!!! Wow! I managed to croak out if this material
could be had in smaller quantities but was politely told "Not by
Dupont". I was given Richmond Aircraft Products in Norwalk, CA
as a possible small lot purchase source. In contacting
Richmond I was told they will sell small lots but they do not
handle the particular film I'm needing. Bummer!

So... this is a long winded way of asking just how & where you
were able to purchase the Tedlar for your fellow LazairFlyers?
My need is not for a Lazair... but for an older ultralight called an
Invader MKlllB that I'm building from plans. I'm actually not ready
to cover but that bridge will come soon enough. Any help would
be greatly appreciated!

TEDLAR ISSUE
UltraFlyn, I am not sure the motivation here on the TEDLAR issue, but I have found a post from the TEDLAR guy with a phone number. Perhaps a phone call to Mr Nagy would be in order to clarify this matter?

Hi Bill

I've been hanging my Lazair III from the ceiling for two years now. We
started out attaching the tree ropes with clasps at the end to the two
engine mounts on the wing side of the lord mounts and one on the tail boom
behind the seat attachment. That worked reall well for stability but I
concluded that there was a constant turning force on the D cells 24/7 365
days a year.

After that I started to attach the two front ones down on the axils just
inboard of the brake assembly . This is good for a series three with the
wider wheel base. If you have a 1 or earlier II maybe the engine mount thing
might not be too bad. I think it would be too unstable to attach at the
axils with the narrower wheel base. I didn't find any damage with that way ,
just thought the axils were better.

Give me a call if you'd like to chat. 519-372-1762

If you think you will get anything from the "Tedlar Guy" you must be kidding, right ? A simple question requires a simple answer. Obviously that isn't what you are going to get. The fact remains, Where does one get TUT20BG3 Tedlar ? You know, the kind supplied with the kits. It's a mystery to be solved away from the cyber world evidently ! Then again reading between the lines things may not be as they seem, may they ??? The mystery remains ! Truth is self evident !

 I agree with Lazair on this issue.
Not sure what your game plan really is ?

There are 2 other sources for tedlar besides Mr. Nagy.
Of course the only place tedlar originates from is the factory and that is Dupont.
So as seems evident ,to obtain an order from them can be
extremely difficult unless you have very deep pockets.

Another route to go would be covering with fabric as several other fellows have done with very good results.

Best of luck in your quest.
