Thanks everyone, and Ola, it is new! Brand new, never flown or started...yet! I just picked up a case of Pennzoil 2-Stroke "Air Cooled Engine Oil" and a new gas can for transporting fuel to the airport.

I plan to see if these brand new 24 year old engines will fire up this weekend. I've gone through them and put in new points and condensors and set the timing, so cross your fingers.

Congratulations George,i wich can do the same , my is from 1982 ser II#486 if i dont remember wrong still a kit, confiscated by the (B..h)of my EX...hope my 5 years divorce finish soon' will see ,lot's of luck and happy flight's.

fantastic job george! now that you have gone through the entire build cycle from start to finish, can we ask you a few questions about your design decisions? I have two to start:

1) why no jury struts?
2) what size AN bolts are your long bolts?

the second chapter of your adventure begins, good luck with the test flights :)

Hey Tyler,

This is actually my second Lazair. I built A-686 in 1982.

I absolutely plan on installing jury struts but I had the opportunity to move into the hanger just as I was finishing up the build, and both my wife and I were ready to get it out of the garage. So the jury struts are coming soon.

As for the long bolts (I'm assuming you are referring to the nacelle bolts), I'll have to look that one up. I got these over a year and a half ago. Don't let me forget to get this for you.

I've put in 30 minutes of taxi practice, engine adjustments and brake adjustments this morning. I plan to go down later this evening when it cools down a bit and try and get the motors broken in to where I can throttle up to full to adjust the high settings.

George,

Contgrats man!!!! I can hardly wait to see it and fly with you! I wish I was having better luck with mine or I would have flown down already and checked it out. I'm currently on crutches due to that da....rn series 2 gear (I ran over my foot last Friday while taxiing for takeoff). Hope all goes well with your taxi tests (remember to keep your feet up :rolleyes: ).

No cap strips yet. Remember, I needed to get it out of the garage when the hanger came available. They will have to come later.

Thanks! I've tried extremely hard to do an exceptional job on every part of this build. Honestly though, the one part I wish I would have spent more time on is practicing the finish tapes on the Poly-Fiber wing tips. They turned out really nice, but had I spent a bit more time with my iron working down the "pinked" edges of the finish tape, it might have been just a wee bit better.

Not again!! I don't remember, do you have brakes? If not, we need to get you equiped with some ASAP. Also, we better convert you over to wide gear too to keep the mains away from you feet. I'll help you with both.

Ola,

I've been having Christmas for the last 3 1/2 years since I got these crates in. I now get to play with my toy.
