I just pull my Hall wind speed off the Lazair and hold it in the direction of wind.....low tech, very reliable.

Yeah, that works good. A wet finger can also be effective for all the good knowing what the wind speed is when you've waited all week (or longer) to get a chance to fly. Some people, as myself, just like gadgets and like to tinker.
