and...

See Below for a Schedule of Ultralight Events!

UltraFlight Radio can now be found live on Tuesday mornings right here on the web at www.ultraflightradio.com at 10:00am Eastern Standard Time and 7:00am Pacific Time. But you don't have to hear it live to hear it!

You can also hear (previous shows) at the show archive. We make it convenient for you! This show will be found archived at www.ultraflightradio.com

We've got some great folks lined up this week for your listening pleasure, including:

Dave Piper, Sun 'n Fun Ultralight Chairman
Dave Piper is the man with the task of making sure that Paradise City, the Ultralight area at Sun 'n Fun, runs smoothly. This year a little more attention is going to be paid to instructors providing tandem training flights as well as some of the heavier Light Sport Aircraft. You don't have to listen to rumors about this year's plans, you can get the facts here! www.sun-n-fun.org

Scott Wick & Jim Kaiser, Wick's Aircraft
Wick's Aircraft has been busy over the past several months. Since Scott Wick and Jim Kaiser took over the reigns of the home-builder supply house, they have been bringing more and more offerings to the catalog. They share with us some of the new additions to their line-up! www.wicksaircraft.com

Alan Laymon, Solo Aviation
Alan is a Rotax repairman headquartered in Kentucky. He has noticed a rise in engines being sold as "rebuilt" or in "great shape" that are anything but. He shares some strategies with us when looking for a used engine or ultralight with a two stroke engine. www.soloaviation.com

Tom Olenik, Olenik Aviation

Dan Johnson, EAA
Dan Johnson is taking on a new responsibility in the emerging world of Sport Pilot and Light-Sport Aircraft. He has been retained by the EAA to implement programs and activities that will help people discover the opportunities available within these exciting new categories of pilots and aircraft. Of course he will tell us all about it! www.sportpilot.org

If you have any questions you want to ask the guests or you have any of your own comments about a topic, please call the show toll free when we're live at (888) 514-2100. If you have a show idea or know someone that would be a guest on the show (that could be you!) Contact me at roy@easyflight.com

British Microlight pilot Richard Meredith-Hardy and Italian hang-glider pilot Angelo D’Arrigo are preparing to tow a Hang-glider with a Microlight to 30,000ft over Everest in May 2004. Crazy? Can this be possible? Two people think it is perfectly possible, and intend to try it very soon. There's a lot more to it than just a bit of towing too, this project is but one of a series of expeditions all over the World to investigate the migratory habits of birds of prey. Richard tells us about it! www.flymicro.com/everest/index.cfm

And if You Missed The March 30th Show...

You Can Still Get It In The Archives!

We archive shows for four to six weeks. But for your convenience, you can access segments from last weeks show straight from this email! Just click on the segment number.
If this is the first time you plan to listen to the radio show, you may need to download a copy of Windows Media Player. Don't fret, there are versions for the Mac, too!

Ron Wagner, EAA
FAA Administrator Marion Blakey ordered an administrative move on Wednesday, March 24, that keeps the sport pilot/light-sport aircraft rule on track for final approval this spring. She withdrew the proposal from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to answer several final questions about the rulemaking package. Ron joins us to tell us what this manuever means to us. www.sportpilot.org (3/30/04)

Mike Stratman, California Power Systems
For over 25 years California Power Systems has been a great source for everything you need to outfit and maintain your Ultralight Aircraft of Powered Parachute. Mike joins us to talk about the history of the company and what he is doing now. www.800-Airwolf.com (3/30/04)

Dale Hooper, USUA
By withdrawing the Sport Pilot Rule by FAA's own request at this time, it could save the rule from being rejected by OMB, and keep it from having to pass through the entire regulatory process once again -- possibly avoiding a rewrite or worse. USUA applauds FAA for taking this action. Dale Hooper joins us to tell us more about USUA's take on this unfolding situation. www.usua.org (3/30/04)

Tom Olenik, Olenik Aviation
Discussions about what to do after a prop strike. Which coolant is better for the Rotax 582 Engine. Which 2-stroke oil is best for out use. What to do about scuffing on a piston. When the show is live, Tom Olenik is ready to answer your four stroke and two stroke ultralight aircraft engine questions. Call them in at (888) 514-2100 or IM them in on AOL or Yahoo Instant Messenger to UFRadio. www.buyitsellitfixit.com/ (3/30/04)

Jim Sweeney, NAPPF President and USUA Board Member
Aero-Medical factors are not mentioned that often in the ultralight world, but they should be. There are a number of things that can impair your enjoyment of the sky and possibly even cause a dangerous situation. Jim tells us about how to stay safe. nappf.com/nappf_aero_medical.htm (Part 1) (3/30/04)
