Hey Ozzie,

Thanks for the quick note. Looks like a great way to remove the old tape residue. I scrape it off and re-tape the ribs with 3M 990 reinforced tape.

I can ship anytime, just contact my office at 1-519-756-1110 est.

I agree fully with you, you should be able to get all the tapes you need through your local 3M rep. they own scotch brand as well. Do you need the data sheets and tape numbers?

Great to hear about you covering up the foam tape with 850, that's good stuff. I know the prices for these tapes are high but they are very good and they have been tested. Their tear strength, elongation and permeability is very good.

Dupont is an exceelent company and I have dealt with them for years. Their Tedlar issue is only about liability, I also strongly recommend not using Tedlar.

My Lawyer flying buddy summed it up one day when I was discussing my Lazair, he said, "foam wing ribs, your kidding right".

Hey Great idea,

I am not much of a plastics expert but for what ever it's worth. here it goes.

The Tedlar, (Dupont's trade name) for the resine is a florine based vinyl known as PVF short for, (poly vinyl floride). polyvinyl is very tough stuff, used in all kinds of out door products.

The correct code for our Tedlar is, TUT-20-BG3

The first T stands for Tedlar, the U stands for ultaviolet, the second T is for transparent, the 20 stands for 2 mil thickness, the BG3 is for the resine code mix, that contains the modulis of elasticity, tear strength and melt index.

As was stated earlier in this thread, Do NOT use this stuff for aircraft covering.

Dupont strongly descourages it's use for any type of aircraft recovering.

Dale,

Can/will you post a picture of the documentation on this Tedlar? Dupont should have sent this info stamped right on the tube it was sent in, rigth on the label, and in the paper work as well. I'm not questioning your integrity, but I want to know it's the right stuff for my "greenhouse".
