Here is where I mounted the winch. That's a Lazair leading edge you see there as well.

I used flat aluminium, bent to fit fuselage, and bent bolt to hang hook to. I can slide this up and down the boom until it balances. I can then measure the balance point of the plane. I wish I could weight it at the same time.

That is really nice work on everything Daffy. A minimalist approach. I love it!
I see a lot of those steel tube and fabric quonset huts going up around here, and it's a heck of a process. They are also about 20 feet high, and I think that's ridiculously high for a Lazair or any ultralight for that matter. They are nice for sure, but way big.
If you can't find a fishing weight scale big enough, (?), use several and add total. They should be accurate enough. Just a thought.

Sweet looking plane is going to move and sound real good too from the looks of the motive force you have connected to it!

Wow, you have done an incredible job getting your hangar together. Not many would have the patience or skill to assemble a portable hangar like this. Along the same lines a similar fixed "T" hangar is an affordable and strong solution for Lazair storage.

On thing I noted was your engines are mounted in a way so that the re-drives are on centerline with the D-cells. Looks great !

Thanks, I am getting anxious, to find out how it will fly, with this configuration. My main goal was to have efficient props., for more thrust. With the Volkswagen bug tailpipes added to the mufflers, they have made a hugh difference to the sound. I think the props are going to be more noisy now. From the cockpit, it's pretty quiet.
The hanger took a little longer to build, than I thought, must be age creeping up. I hope it will serve me well for many years to come.

Thanks for the reply. After building my house, a hanger is a pretty simple structure to build. I had my plane in a steel quonset years ago, and you just don't worry about the plane at all. A great feeling.
You have a pretty sharp eye. Yes the centerline of the prop is very close to a direct drive system. Just a few inches lower. I wanted to keep the original configuration as close as possible. Daffy
