the difference is negligible. i think its 2% difference, so 1HP pretty much equals one Cv in French. i think it has something to do with croissants.

I sure appreciate these responses to this thread. It looks like, brand new power can be had somewhere just under 1500 bucks apiece. The pictures of the motor mounts sure look good and mine will need upgraded from the old Pioneer set up.

The paraplane motors are really advancing weight to hp ratio and miniaturizing the hardware necessary to generate a little electricity.

This guy is selling the electric motor that I have thought could transition to a lazair.

Powered by the new Segway lithium-ion battery, I estimated approximately 20 to 25 minutes of full power. That doesn't seem like much time and when I look at the motor itself, it does seem like it's still a long way to have a propeller spinning from that female splined shaft.

An electric powered lazair does seem tantalizingly close. And the thought of sounding like a big electric weed eater might be something of a turnoff.

I'll add links to his auction and a copy of the e-mail exchange because he wrote an interesting piece ( on his ebay auction page ) on his experience with these motors and will certainly add to the knowledge base, for those who would have an interest in an electric powered lazair.

Sadly, I have no access to Li-I batteries.

I can do two complete packages for you, for 995.00

It would be -

Two Etek motors

Two Sevcon 4Q controllers

Two 0-5K ohm pot boxes,

Two 24 volt solenoids (matched for the controller)

A wiring diagram sample.

finally got a chance to put the wings on

it appears the plane has some history

the stickers read EAA member and two are awarded as EAA champion 1981 and 1985 - seems if I had access to the EAA records for those years I could find out who owned the plane
